One percent better
Fast forward to the trip there…. OMG, it was not for the faint hearted! We arrived in Cancun and had to stay on the mainland until the following afternoon where we took the ferry to Cozumel. Getting to the ferry with 3 big cases and our cabin luggage was nothing short of traumatic with a bad back. The taxi dropped us off and the driver said we had to walk up to the ferry terminal. It was BOILING hot and we dragged our cases through the cobbled streets of Playa del Carmen. We dragged them uphill to the ferry terminal then had to put each case through a scanner. I was dying I don’t mind telling you! Then we dragged them down the ramp and had them checked in on the ferry. About an hour later, collecting said cases and dragging them all on the other side! So I wasn’t exactly in the best shape by the time we got to the hotel.
We had a couple of days before going diving so we really relaxed and I tried to protect my back as much as I could. However, the morning we were supposed to go I knew once in the water I would probably be OK but the boat part of the day just wouldn’t be possible. True to his word, Graeme said no probs let’s just chill out instead. I was so annoyed though and thought about how this was now 4 months of back pain and I wasn’t putting up with it another day. I had seen a mobility program online that I really liked the look of and so decided to buy the course. It required you to start with photos and videos of your current mobility so that’s what I did at the hotel gym the next day. I am quite flexible and managed to do the required deep squat with not much effort at all however some of the moves (especially hand stand) left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately in my eagerness to fix everything I gave myself a new piriformis injury (which meant I was limping around Cozumel for the remainder of the holiday), however I won’t be deterred and I have spent since then, every single day, doing exercises that I CAN do, to get me in a routine. I am fortunate to be the type of person who is very motivated in almost everything I do, so I am chipping away bit by bit. One thing that she says on the course though is, “Aim to be one percent better than you were yesterday”. And that is one percent better than YOURSELF… don’t look at what anybody else is doing, only care about beating yourself by 1% from the day before and when you get to a year you will be 365% better. I loved that and thought yeah… 1% is easy. Even on a bad day you can be 1% better than the day before!!!!
So, I have incorporated this into absolutely everything in my daily life since then… Eating 1% cleaner, working 1% more conscientiously, being 1% kinder and more thoughtful, working out 1% more diligently… and so on and so forth.
I have lots of exciting plans ahead and I’m really looking forward to everything. I have spent a lot of time training for my own Quantum Healing Hypnosis business and I am finally getting to the point where I am seeing results from all of the work and time I have put into it over the last year. Learning a new modality that is not necessarily from a spiritual point of view has been amazing too. I appreciate that some people don’t want to dissect and talk about their problems, so I really wanted to become qualified in something to help people who feel like that, and I am at the final stages of my course for that too so it is all very exciting. And as long as I make sure I am 1% better than I was yesterday, what more could you ask? ❤
